If you’ve come to this page, then it probably means you’ve got a query we haven’t answered elsewhere or worse, are stuck or have a problem. In typical British fashion, we apologise for this and hope we can rectify that below.

Here you’ll find a (growing) list of Frequently Asked Questions and our answers for a range of issues from gameplay, purchases, multiplayer lobbies and likely more.

If we haven’t answered your query or problem here, please email the support team at info@locodojogame.com

GENERAL

Q: What’s the difference between ‘Loco Dojo’ and ‘Loco Dojo Unleashed’?
A: Loco Dojo is for PC VR devices only (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Windows Mixed Reality headsets), Loco Dojo Unleashed is for standalone VR devices only (currently Oculus Quest and Quest 2).

Q: Can I have a refund?
A: We don’t handle refunds for game purchases directly, please refer to Oculus Support article “Refunds & Returns

Q: I bought Loco Dojo for Oculus Rift, do I get Loco Dojo Unleashed for free on Oculus Quest?
A: Yes! We have enabled Cross-Buy so if you own the game on Oculus Rift Store, the game should be waiting for you to install on launch for Oculus Quest & Quest 2.

Q: Does the game support account sharing?
A: Yes, if you buy the game on the main, admin account logged into the headset, then the sub-accounts can also access the game to play. This is the cheapest way for a household with multiple Oculus Quests to be able to play multiplayer together.

GAMEPLAY

Q: How do I unlock new avatar masks for my player character?
A: Play through ‘Solo Dojo’ single player mode to achieve trophies. The minigames are arranged in tiers, increasing in difficulty as you unlock each tier. To unlock the next tier, you must achieve a bronze trophy for each minigame within the current tier. By achieving x2 gold trophies within a tier, you unlock a mask. If you achieve x4 gold trophies in a tier, you will unlock a very special mask. Which mask? Well, play on and find out. There are 8 in total to unlock.

Q: How do I unlock the new gold versions of the avatar masks?
A: Simply (!) get a fabled black headband when playing Ten Trials Test (HINT: You need at least 7 golds to do so) and you will unlock the gold version of the animal mask you are wearing at that time. Simply go back to ‘Settings > Change Avatar’ to choose your newly unlocked golden variant.

Q: How do I get good at a minigame?
A: Practice makes perfect! Some are harder than others but all are possible to gold trophy. Read the instructions and listen to Grand Sensei’s tips during gameplay. Look out on our social media channels for hints and tips we share. We have created a longer section below describing each minigame in detail.

MULTIPLAYER

Q: Can people who own Loco Dojo play against people who own Loco Dojo Unleashed?
A: Not at present, due to the nature of when each game was released and features, the two versions are currently incompatible with multiplayer across-platforms. Therefore whilst we support Cross-Buy, we do not support Cross-Play between Quest and PC VR, sorry.

Q: How does multiplayer work?
A: We use a system that essentially makes the 1st player into a pre-lobby the host. The pre-lobby is the area with the apples you can lob about and a ‘Ready’ and ‘Quit’ button on a scroll in-front of you.
Once the pre-lobby is full or you are impatient to get playing, pressing ‘Ready’ will show a green tick on the button. Once all current players in the pre-lobby have selected ready, the game will begin. At this point, no further players can join!
If the host player leaves for any reason, then it means that the lobby will be closed for all other players. If other players who aren’t host drop, unless the pre-lobby is active, you won’t be able to re-join.

Q: How do I join a lobby with my friends?
A: You can make a lobby private so that it only appears to your Oculus / Facebook friends when they search for a game to join. Once you are in the pre-lobby (with the apples), you can now invite friends to your lobby too.

Q: I can’t find people to play against!
A: Quick Match works by searching for games in your locale region. If no available pre-lobbies are found, it widens the search again to surrounding locale regions. If no available pre-lobbies are still not found, it widens the search again to all locale regions. If none are found, it will create a pre-lobby with you as a host for others to join.

Q: We get split up during Four Round Fury!
A: Sometimes it’s a race condition as the matchmaking is just looking for the nearest available pre-lobby closest to you. If you don’t join the one you wanted, press the left Oculus Quest ‘hamburger’ menu button, quit and try searching again.

Q: Can I play the game with one account logged into multiple headsets?
A: Yes you can but note that as of Oculus Quest OS v33+ there is now a system-level message that pops up when it detects that the app is being run on the same account across multiple devices simultaneously. There’s nothing we can do about this.

Q: How does the new Quest Party support work?
A: You can create a Quest Party from the Universal Menu, which appears when you press the oculus button on the right Touch controller. From here, click the green [Start Party] button and invite your friends to the Quest Party. You can select a “destination” for Loco Dojo Unleashed to be a jump point for friends to travel to, so you all end up in the same lobby no matter where you join from or what you were doing before. The destinations pre-configured for selection are ‘Four Round Fury’ and ‘Table of Trials’. Once a destination is set, simply click [Travel] button or hover over your friends name and select ‘Travel to…’ option.

Minigame Tips

Tier 1 -

Cat-a-Pult: Watch out for the bombs that look like cats! After x3 cats are attached to the dogs tongue, you'll have to time your release to avoid the paws. Cats do slowly slip down the tongue and will fall off the end.

Crab Catch: Watch out for the green, rotten fish. Don't put these in your boat but perhaps put them in your opponent's boat instead?

Ninja Biscuits: Aim is key, timing of release also important.

Bug Crunch: Do a little dance in time to the music, it helps me anyway. Clean, straight strikes squish bugs effectively.

Tier 2 -

Cactus Kebabs: Angle your throw and perfect your timing release. Aim for multiple food items at once for bonus points. Look out for the golden slice of corn for megapoints.

Pier Pressure: Timing is key, take the seagull's speed into account when to hit it to drop the condiment and use the inertia to land on your pier safely. Don't shoot the bomb-carrying ones, unless you want them to drop onto your opponent's piers. Shoot the seagull that comes straight at you to avoid being pooped on.

Totem Moles: Start with the side stacks and carefully place them to avoid knocking your piles over. Look out for the golden mole. With skill, you can throw a bomb at opponents to blow-up their stacks.

Hook-a-Hog: Shake the squeaky food toys to attract the pigs to you. Different types of pig are attracted to different types of food. Keep an eye on food being used by an opponent and use an alternative. Hog the golden hog for megapoints.

Tier 3 -

Egg Boxing: Use the boxing glove as a shield for your egg, or punch the cactus cowboys to turn them around. There is another way to succeed, can you figure it out?

Rattle Snacks: The bow is pretty accurate so close one eye and use the silver metal nubbin on the side for a true line-of-sight. Avoid hitting the parachute as this will make the burger fall to the floor. When controlling minecarts, place yours wisely to stop your opponents getting your burgers.

Way of the Sausage: Timed strikes are better than wild flailing. Wild flailing makes for better videos. Also, make Bruce Lee noises.

Sea Saw: If you can rub your belly and pat your head at the same time, you should do OK here. If not, just try and get a good run to remove as many urchins off the Prince of Whales' belly in one fell swoop. If you are batting urchins, aim for the golden ink for megapoints.

Tier 4 -

Apple Dash: Like an RC car, left can be right, and right can be left, depending which way the RC pig is facing from you. Get a good speed and a straight line to get up the ramps to snaffle the golden apples for megapoints. Where do you take the apples once picked up? That big red area in front of you by your feet!

Milking a Pig via Piglets: Greedy piglets drink less milk, so make sure they all get a turn on the teat. Line up a few at once then rapidly pull them off and pat their bottoms over the milk urn before they pop-off. Milk can also be squirted at opponents to temporarily blind them if needed. Piglets about to pop-off will wiggle their lil piggy legs.

Chum Gun: Pump up the gun like a supersoaker to get a good pressure to reach your opponents. When a shark attacks, you'll have to physically duck, dodge or dive out the way to avoid being eaten. (NB. Please don't actually dive to the floor)

Pig Bridge: Hard right-angle corners calls for hard movements. Make sure you whip your piggy steed in the centre of the target for maximum speed!
